The BMF focuses on research into pathologies of the macula, the retina and the vitreous. The Foundation devotes special attention to pre-clinical research in order to pass results on to the clinical phase in the shortest amount of time possible.
We work in cutting-edge research projects against degenerative diseases which until today have been incurable, such as the atrophic variant of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), Stargardt’s disease and retinitis pigmentosa.
Our struggle would be impossible without the close collaboration of research and assistance centers, scientific institutions, associations and other top-level corporations from all over Europe and the world. Thanks to them we are a reference in leading scientific research.
