A phase I escalating dose of subretinal sodium iodate: a toxininduced animal model of geographic atrophy of rpe and photoreceptors

The objective of this study is to establish an animal model of geographic atrophy of the outer layers of the retina limited to a certain area of the fundus to resemble geographic atrophy secondary to age-related macular degeneration and Stargardt’s disease, by using a toxic compound specific for retinal pigment epithelium.
