The Board of Governors of the Barcelona Macula Foundation hold meeting
Maurice Botton was appointed the new Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Barcelona Macula Foundation at a meeting held on 16 July. Joan Parra was also named as a new Governor of the Foundation.
Maurice Botton is a Governor of the Foundation. He has a Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Caen and in Agricultural Engineering from the National Agricultural School of Food Industries in Nancy. He spent his entire professional career with Danone and is also the Chairman of the Associació per la Cultura Psicològica in Barcelona and the Philosophy Circle of the French Institute of Barcelona.
Joan Parra is a graduate in Chemical Sciences, a Doctor of Biochemistry and a Postgraduate in Business Management from the University of Barcelona and he completed the Management Development Programme at the IESE Business School. He was a professor of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Barcelona. At present, he is the Managing Director of Leitat.
As well as the appointment of Mr. Botton and Mr. Parra, Dr. Jordi Monés, the Foundation’s Medical Director, presented the BMF’s strategy for the coming years and the research projects in progress. He also set out the action being carried out in the area of retinal degenerative diseases. In addition, the 2014 annual accounts and the 2015 budgets were approved at the meeting.
