Today is World Sight Day
In keeping with tradition each year, the second Thursday of October is World Vision Day, an initiative that aims to raise society’s awareness of the importance of research and prevention in the fight against blindness.
The Barcelona Macula Foundation is constantly studying and researching. In the words of the Foundation’s Medical Director, Dr. Jordi Monés, “prevention and research are the keys to preventing eye diseases that cannot yet be treated or cured”.
Countless institutions fight each day to improve the eyesight of the people around the world. Such is the case of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), which has launched a campaign under the slogan “No More Avoidable Blindness”. Its aim? To reduce avoidable blindness around the world by 25%, by 2019. For more information, see the video below.
