Through this forum, the Barcelona Macula Foundation aims to exchange ideas and interact with other scientific fields, to explore and discover possible new therapeutic approaches for retinal dystrophies. Those therapies include nanotechnology, regenerative medicine, stem cell therapy, gene therapy, genomics, bioengineering, optogenetics and photonic sciences, among others. The Foundation also hopes to make a difference in the field at the international level and promote Catalonia as a benchmark, by creating a strategic network to promote new research and mutual learning initiatives, the exchange of knowledge and its transfer to different fields and countries.
The Barcelona Macula Foundation: Research for Vision is one of the nine research organisations and centres that make up the B·Debate 2016 programme. This is an initiative of Biocat and Obra Social “la Caixa” to promote high-level international scientific conferences in Barcelona.
