Drs. Jordi Monés and Marc Biarnés to participate at the second meeting of the European EYE-RISK Project
Dr. Jordi Monés, the Medical Director of the Barcelona Macula Foundation: Research for Vision; and Dr. Marc Biarnés, the Researcher in the Foundation, are to participate at the second meeting of the European Project: Exploring the combined role of genetic and non-genetic factors for developing AMD: A systems level analysis of disease subgroups, risk factors, and pathways, known as EYE-RISK.
To be held in Majorca on 15-17 October, the meeting will provide an opportunity to share the progress made in the first months of the project and to set the guidelines for forthcoming months. There will also be a presentation of the project website together with a session on systems biology taught by Tim Radstake an international expert, entitled "Systems medicine to understanddisease".
The EYE-RISK project aims to identify risk factors, molecular mechanisms and therapeutic methods to combat Age-Related Macular Degeneration. It is an international research project in which eight research centres, two companies and a patient organisation from six European countries all participate.
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme under grant agreement no 634479.
