Dr. Jordi Monés to attend “Advanced Cellular Therapies and Regenerative Medicine. The Promise in the 21st Century”

Dr. Jordi Monés, the ophthalmologist and the Medical Director of the Barcelona Macula Foundation, is to attend the Conference, “Advanced Cellular Therapies and Regenerative Medicine. The Promise in the 21st Century”. Organised by B·DEBATE and the Blood and Tissue Bank (Banc de Sang i Teixits, BST), the event is an initiative of BIOCAT and the "la Caixa" Foundation. It will be held at Cosmocaixa and the Blood and Tissue Bank building on 17-18 February.

The Conference focuses on the role cellular therapies and regenerative medicine will play in the scientific process in the years to come. Both specialties will contribute to the treatment and the cure of particular diseases using cells, tissues, molecules and other biological components with the aim of restoring the form, functions and properties of tissue and even damaged organs. It is forecast that the evolution of these areas will have a huge impact on medical, social and economic development.

The Conference will boast the participation of thirty national and international expert researchers and specialists. They will analyse the challenges and opportunities offered by cellular therapies and regenerative medicine in the short and medium term.
